A globular cactus that usually forms colonies that do not exceed 20 centimetres in height.
The tubers are greyish-green with a woolly appearance when they sprout.
In this specimen some tubercles have lost their pigmentation, and the green colour has turned yellow.
It has up to 6 radial spines and 4 to 7 fairly long white central spines.
Outdoors it can withstand low temperatures, but beware of frost.
Very small pink or red flowers.
